Powhiri

This week is te Wiki o te Reo Māori, which is Māori Language Week. We as a whānau are celebrating it because it is a very important week for Māori.
So this morning, we went to the hall and sat on the stage. Sumuree was the kaikaranga for the manuhiri and Whaea Lee was the kaikaranga who welcomed them in. Papa T, Whaea Lees husband, was our kaikorero and our kaikarakia. We
stood up and did our himene, which was He Honore, Papa did his whaikorero and gave him a waiata tautoko.
There was this man (Matua Jamie Wall) who stood up and talked about himself and his mahi. He also spoke about rugby with the Kapa o Pango. Whaea Rhonda stood up and presented the certificates to others. Then all the classes went back to there rooms the manuhiri stood up and went to the back of the room to grab them a kai to eat. Then we did one more waiata and haka and when to eat there were Apples, Grapes, Oranges, Biscuits, Rewana bread and Milk and coffee for the adults we also had chocolate which there was no more cause the year six and the year fives had to be at the back for the teina and the kootiro then when we left we started talking about what we're doing for Maaori language week we are really busy this week practicing and teaching.

                        Nga mihi ka kite ano.
